Binh Dinh to name streets after Nobel Prize winners

Several streets in Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh Province will be named after Nobel Prize winning scientists who visited the south-central Vietnamese city’s International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE).

Ta Xuan Chanh, director of the provincial Department of Culture and Sports, said on Wednesday that the province had given the green light to name city streets after these scientists.

The move is expected to promote and transform the Quy Hoa science and education urban area, located in the city’s Ghenh Rang Ward, into Vietnam’s top science and education destination.

The plan is also aimed at developing more tourism products related to science and education, as well as honoring Nobel Prize winning scientists who contributed to science and education in the world and in Vietnam.

The Department of Culture and Sports also suggested naming an intersection in Ghenh Rang Ward 'Nobel Avenue' and honoring scientists by placing busts of them in the Quy Hoa science and education urban area, Chanh said.
