Binh Dinh Province targets $35.5mn green space for urban areas

Authorities in Binh Dinh Province, south-central Vietnam aim to spend over VND900 billion (US$35.5 million) growing trees in the province’s urban areas by 2030, an official said on Wednesday.

The provincial administration has mapped out a plan to expand green space for urban areas during the 2024-25 period, with a vision toward 2030, but the province is still searching for the capital needed for the project.

The plan aims to create themed parks and green landscape parks in the province's urban areas, particularly in Quy Nhon City, An Nhon Town, and Hoai Nhon Town, according to Nguyen Tu Cong Hoang, vice-chairman of the provincial People’s Committee.

These green spaces will not only bring joy to residents but also host various cultural and sports activities.

The project, funded by the state budget and contributions from businesses, organizations, and individuals, will be carried out in two phases.

Over VND315 billion (US$12.5 million) will be allocated for planting trees in various urban areas across the province during the 2024-25 period, while the second phase, from 2026 to 2030, will require nearly VND587 billion ($23 million).
