Quy Nhon sees no fishing boats violating foreign waters

Quy Nhon fishing port is a busy venue for fishing boats to anchor, but it has seen no boats violating foreign waters in past months.

Determining to eliminate illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing (IUU), relevant bodies in the city have actively monitored the activities of fishing boats.

Binh Dinh's border guards are informing the regulations to local fishermen

Many programs were launched since early this year, including communication sessions on IUU, cultural shows and contest, aiming to help fishermen to follow regulations.

The border guards also frequently monitor fishing vessels when they unloaded at the port. All owners of fishing vessels were asked to signed agreements for not violating foreign waters.

The fisherman Nguyen Van Mao said that he now understands the law and locations when going fishing.

Accoring to Phan Truong Son, an official of Binh Dinh Border Guard, the border guard station at Quy Nhon port has effectively conducted their tasks, helping to raise fishermen’s awareness of the law.
