Binh Dinh’s first safe vegetable brand expected to see development
Binh Dinh’s first safe vegetable project, funded by the New Zealand Government since 2016, has been completed, bringing many encouraging outcomes for local farmers.
The program director, Dr Michael Lay-Yee, said that the project was conducted using the most advanced practice methods in the vegetable production, aiming to support the safe and sustainble vegetable growers in Binh Dinh.
More than 2,000 farmers in 8 districts and towns participated in the VietGAP-standardized process. Its brand, La Lanh, is now well known at supermarkets and grocery stores in Binh Dinh, Quang Ngai and Da Nang.

He also highly appreciated the local growers for their interest in the project. The key factor is that, he said, they changed their awareness to accept a new method in cultivation. The cooperation between farmers and distributors helps the community to have high quality and safe vegetable sources.
Dr Lay-Yee expressed the hope that the work will continue after the project ends. This will benefit not only consumers but farmers. When the brand is recognized widely, the local vegetable has the potential of being sold in other provinces and exported.
